The First Day of School: My Nerves, My Friends, and My Backpack

 The Morning of New Beginnings

I still remember how nervous I felt that morning. I had my new uniform on, my bag was bigger than me, and my shoes were a little too shiny. My amma held my hand tightly while walking me to school, and I kept wondering, Will anyone talk to me? Will I get lost?

As I stepped into the school gates, I saw other children crying, some holding lunch boxes, others already playing. It was loud, colorful, and a little scary. But somehow, I also felt like something special was about to start.

The First Friend I Ever Made

In class, I sat at the very edge of the class, quietly looking around. A girl next to me smiled and offered me a sticker. That simple gesture changed everything. We talked, laughed, and became best friends. Her name was Pathumini, and to this day, I believe she was a gift on that first day.

A Little Trouble—and a Big Lesson

During break time, I couldn’t open my lunch box, and I felt like crying. But my new friend helped me, and we shared food. That day, I learned that even the smallest acts of kindness can make someone feel safe and loved. That’s a human value I’ll never forget.

Looking Back

The first day of school was full of emotions—fear, excitement, confusion—but it also became the start of something beautiful. I didn’t just go to school that day—I found friendship, courage, and a new beginning.

Thank you for reading! I’ll be back tomorrow with more memories about my school adventures. Stay with me on this journey!
